Water Purer Than
Any Bottle.

Curaçao has produced some of the world's cleanest drinking water since 1928 — straight from the sea, through state-of-the-art reverse osmosis, to your tap.

Why It's Exceptional

Cleaner Than Bottled Water

Visitors and residents alike enjoy tap water that meets some of the highest international quality standards in the world. Curaçao's water is the product of pioneering desalination technology, rigorous testing, and decades of investment in infrastructure.

Skip the plastic. Pour from the tap. The difference is real.

State-of-the-Art Technology

The Aqualectra Desalination Process

Curaçao's water purity begins with the ocean. The island relies on advanced desalination technology at the Aqualectra plant, which uses reverse osmosis to remove impurities, salts, and all contaminants — ensuring the final product exceeds the stringent requirements set by the World Health Organization.

Seawater is drawn in, pre-filtered for larger particles, then pressurized through semi-permeable membranes that allow only water molecules to pass. The concentrated brine is safely returned to the sea following strict environmental regulations.

How It Works

Four Steps to Perfect Purity

01

Reverse Osmosis

Seawater is pre-filtered then pressurized through semi-permeable membranes. Only pure water molecules pass through — salts, bacteria, and all contaminants are left behind. The remaining brine is returned to the sea responsibly.

02

Mineral Balancing

Once desalinated, essential minerals are carefully reintroduced. This step enhances both the taste and the health profile of the water — giving Curaçao's tap water its natural, refreshing character and perfect mineral composition.

03

Continuous Testing

Quality control is paramount. From the Aqualectra plant all the way to the tap, water undergoes rigorous and continuous testing for bacteria, toxins, and contaminants — ensuring every drop is crystal clear and safe to drink.

04

Eco-Friendly Production

Sustainability drives every decision. The desalination process is powered by renewable energy wherever possible, minimising its environmental footprint. In a world where clean water is precious, Curaçao leads by example.

A Legacy of Purity

Choose Tap. Skip the Plastic.

Unlike most destinations where bottled water is a necessity, Curaçao's tap water is completely safe — and in many ways superior. Opting for tap saves money and eliminates plastic waste, contributing to the island's long commitment to sustainability.

Whether you're sipping straight from the glass, brewing morning coffee, or cooling off after a day in the sun — Curaçao's water is a testament to modern engineering meeting natural beauty.
