Best West-Coast Beaches

Here is a visual snapshot of paradise from Watamula and Cliff Villa Peninsula down to the Blue Room. Below are the beaches from the NW tip of Curacao down the west coast. The north-west coast has most beautiful and pristine sandy beaches, soft as powder, made from the island’s white coral. Most of the beaches are hidden between the rocky cliffs and magically appear as you motor off the coast in a boat or drive down the windy roadway. Most beaches are secret and secluded.

We are proud to be part of this beautiful country.

See the beach names and links and below are the pictures in the same order with links. They are all different and all amazing in their unique way. As you are on the west coast, the sunset is always incredible.

Snow-white sand rating

5 Star = Perfect sand and lots of it
4 Star = Perfect sand small beach
3 Star = Rocky and not so pristine
2 Star = Not an ideal beach but good for snorkelling
1 Star = Volcanic small beach

Grab a pizza at Sol Foods on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and have a picnic with an ice beer. Yum!

At the Northwesterly point of the island is the hidden beach of Playa Guepi (Google Map Link)

4 Star The beach is small and beautiful with crashing waves and protected white-sugar sand. Walk up the coast following the yellow painted stones from the villa and bring supplies for a few hours. It is Robinson Crusoe territory and will remind you of pirate tales and skullduggery. Imagine being 200 years back in time with full rigged pirate ships off the coast smuggling wears past the Dutch Brigade in Willemstad. Do not stay after dust otherwise you maybe wittiness for some modern skullduggery …

4 Star Playa Kalki (Google Map Link - 2 mins from Cliff Villa Peninsula) The ocean washes the coral to a new spot daily making the fine sand stretches appear differently each morning. Go West Diving leaves from the pier and will take you snorkelling or diving along the Watamula in front of the Cliff Villa Peninsula.

2 Star Playa Piskadó (Google Map Link - 5 mins from Cliff Villa Peninsula) This beach is more about fish and turtles than those in a quest for pristine sand. Go to the beach in the morning and buy your dinner and take a snorkel in the bay to swim with the turtles coming in for their breakfast.

4 Star Playa Forti (Google Map Link - 9 mins from Cliff Villa Peninsula) White sandy beach with a few small coral pieces in the wash. Find snack bar. Near the restaurant, there 10-metre jumping rock! whoo!

5 Star Grote Knip (Google Map Link) “Beach of the valley" in local Papiamento. Great jumping rocks. The most beautiful beach in Curacao. Water is aquamarine and clear as glass. Fantastic white sand and safe shoreline for the kids.

3 Star Kleine Knip (Google Map Link) Nice beach but best known for snorkelling as it is in a protected bay.

1 Star Playa Jeremi (Google Map Link) (16 mins from the Villa.) Not snowy white - this is a volcanic beach.

1 Star Playa Lagun (Google Map Link) Surrounded by villas and apartment complexes. best known for snorkelling as it is in a protected bay.

2 Star Playa Santa Cruz (Google Map Link) - 20 mins from Cliff Villa Peninsula.) From Playa Santa Cruz you can hike to the beautiful Blue Room. Swim in the blue room (think Capri’s Blue Grotto) after midday as the sun needs to flood in from the west: this lights up the cave and makes the water magical.

Enjoy!!
